School - Learning

Double-paned windows

Waste of glass? I don't know. Why have ONE window when you can have TWO!? Why not give someone else that extra window?

Heh heh... I'm going off about windows. Wow.
Anyways. Life is pretty darn good. I'm a bit confused as of this moment, but not sad. Certainly more towards happy. Except school is tomorrow. Learning is good and all, but it's a pain shoveling all that information into you brain and then hammering it in to make it stay. A bit tiring. But that's what weekends are for, right? In the end, I think going to school is worth it, and I'm glad I have the opportunity for the education I'm getting, even if it is a pain trying to keep up.

Is anyone really BETTER than any one else? I think it's more of an opinion. Someone can spend a bunch of time learning one thing and end up knowing more about it than someone else. But then that other person might have spent time on something else. So really what I think it comes down to is: who spent more time on what that certain thing is? Who learned more in the process? Who has overall "bettered" their self in the given time? We all choose what we do with our time. Are we "better" for choosing learning over fun, or whatever it is we do instead? I don't know.

I am NOT a pony

  1. Say someone studied tae kwon do for YEARS. Literally, from the age of 4 to 17. Then another kid had run races seriously for the same amount of time alright? A killer approaches each of them separately, and the killer is an outstanding runner. He attacks the tae kwon do kid, and he outruns the kid, because he knew tae kwon do! not running! the other guy, the runner, actually stands a chance when the killer attacks him, and this time it becomes a battle of endurance, not who knows what. In this case, no one guy was better. If the runner had studied martial arts, and the martial artist had run, their situations would have been flipped. Call it fate, or karma, or good luck, not one person is better than the other, because they chose something else for their life.

    1. Wow.. windows.. windows see into your soul; your eyes are windows....
      Uh..
So yeah I really like how you talked about shoveling the knowledge in and then hammering it to stay. I think it definitely feels that way sometimes, like you try to cram so much in, and then whenever you can, you hammer it out so that it is solid. Good analogy!
I think you posed an interesting thought about "betterness" and how people sometimes think that they are better than others, and what makes someone better anyway?
I think Ruth made a good point about people and their skills and physical "betterness" really just fits the situation. We all have attributes and skills that we excel in, so I think I agree with what I think you were saying, that we are all good at something, so really there isn't a "betterness", but rather a particular focus on certain talents. As such, I am "better" at some things than you are, and in turn, you are better at some things than I am. You are definitely better at baking brownies than I am and I think that's because you have more patience than I do!
I also think that you are the bestest and I love you. :-)
